Rev. Fr. Stanley Rousseau Biography Reverend Father Stanley Rousseau was born in Haiti and raised in a Christian family of Catholic Educators. His uncle was a priest, and his father and mother were two devoted Catholics. At age 5, he entered the Brothers of Christian Instruction (FIC), a Catholic School in Jacmel, Haiti. He finished his primary classes at age 11 and concluded high school in 1985. Prior to enter the Major Seminary in 1991, he spent two years of vocational discernment in his home parish and in a center for postulants to the priesthood in the capital Port-au-Prince. After 6 years of philosophical and theological studies he spent another year of internship or pastoral practice in the parish of St Francis Xavier of Baudain, in the diocese of Jacmel. He was ordained priest on July 12, 1998, in St’s Jacques and Philippe Cathedral of Jacmel, Haiti. After seven months as parochial vicar, his then bishop Guy Poulard appointed him Administrator of the parish of Our Lady of Loretto in Belle-Anse. During his tenure in Belle - Anse, he organized the parish in ecclesial communities of base putting into place a pastoral of proximity facilitating the active participation of the faithful in the life of the parish. He also was deeply involved in the social life of the city providing the population with potable water, a yearly medical mission, electricity and the construction of an elementary and secondary school. Upon finishing his time as Administrator, his bishop sent him to the United States to study. In addition to his pastoral experiences as a priest and an educator, Fr Rousseau earns two master’s degrees from Boston College, one in Pastoral Ministry and another one in Educational Administration. After completion of his studies, he returned to work in Haiti. There, he became the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the diocese of Jacmel overseeing a number of 183 educational institutions. He worked in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services, participated in international conference in the United States with participants originated from various countries in the world and from international organizations and foundations. At the same time, he was working as Pastor of the diocesan shrine of the Immaculate Conception. He completed the construction of the church building and organized yearly charismatic congress for thousands of people coming from all over the country and from the United States. From 2013 to 2023, he served the Haitian and American communities of St John in Cambridge, St Anne, St Catherine and St Joseph in Somerville and the parish of Holy Name in West Roxbury, the Tri-Parish community of St Mary, St Anne and Sacred Heart in Quincy.
